Quick Start Guide
just the basics
What RamBooster Does:
RamBooster monitors the amount of physical RAM available and if that amount dips below the amount you set in the Preferences below, RamBooster moves a portion of the bits currently stored in the physical RAM to your hard disk cache(virtual memory).
To avoid over taxing your CPU, you can set RamBooster so that it will not free-up RAM unless the CPU is below the usage percentage you set below.
Configuration Options:
To get to the Preferences screen below, simply double-click on the RamBooster icon in the system tray (near the clock), then click on the edit menu and select Preferences...
The settings below are that of a system with 128MB of RAM

Descriptions:
The top image is the main program window.
Memory control section is the amount of RAM you want to free when you manually hit the [Optimize] button in this main window.  It has NO effect on the automatic features of RamBooster
In the Options window: (Preferences)
sound on - allows you to hear sounds when RamBooster's automatic optimization occurs.
Run automatically at alarm level - makes RamBooster automatically free-up the amount of ram you specify when the alarm level is reached.
Show CPU-usage - turns on/off the display of the CPU's current usage state in the main program window.
Launch automatically at startup - launches RamBooster when Windows starts, so RamBooster is monitoring RAM at all times.
Start minimized - makes RamBooster start as an icon in the system tray (near the clock).
Show Pop-up when optimizing - displays a visual pop-up message when the automatic optimization is occurring.
Alarm level (Mb) - when the amount of available physical RAM dips below this amount, then RamBooster will optimize and free up the amount you set in the next line...
Amount of RAM to free at alarm-level -  the amount of physical RAM you want to have available after RamBooster automatically optimizes at alarm level.
Run ONLY if CPU-usage is below this - so that RamBooster doesn't try to add yet another process to your CPU if it is already overloaded, you can prevent optimization if the CPU is too busy.
Interval to refresh screen (sec) - if your CPU is slower, you can have RamBooster refresh the main program window less often.
Times to retry optimization - sometimes other programs or windows will write bits to physical RAM during the optimization process, thus making the amount you wanted freed-up less than you set.  RamBooster can retry to get it to the amount YOU specified above.
Accept for the amounts in the Alarm level and Amount to free at alarm-level, most of the settings above atre pretty typical.
