I need help for the Beginner, where do I begin to configure RamBooster?
Check out our QuickStart
guide...
What Target level of free RAM should I set on
the SlideBar Target
Level of free RAM in the main program window?
Since the SlideBar only affects the amount of
RAM to free when you manually hit the [Optimize] button, the amount to
set here is up to you, however, do NOT try to set it too high, since Windows
itself requires between 16 - 32 MB of untouched RAM to function.
Windows will defend this territory to it's on crash. We often set
this SlideBar to about half of the total RAM on a system (if over 64MB
of RAM is installed)
What versions of Windows does RamBooster run
on?
RamBooster will run on all versions of Windows.
We have specifically tested on Win95, Win98 WinME, WinNT (server
& workstation), Win2000(server & workstation)
We have not yet done our own testing on WinXP, but a user has reported
functionality
I have my RamBooster settings to free up as much memory as
possible when I click the optimize button. It gets near the end but then
locks up. What should I do?
Don't try to free up too much RAM, Windows requires
16-32MB of RAM depending on your configuration, so don't try to clearall
your RAM.
What settings should I set to get the most
benefit from RamBooster?
Our best advice is to check out our Suggested
Settings page.
I just installed the Cacheman program, and would like to know if
there are any known conflicts between it and RamBooster.
We have had no reports of conflics between RamBooster
and cacheman, however, they do overlap in their purpose... We reccccommend
you only USE ONE MEMORY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AT A TIME.
is ramboost compatible with AMD processors?
RamBooster is compatible with ALL processors
that Windows can run on.
I downloaded RamBooster but now how do I install it?
Once you have downloaded either the ZIP or ERXE
file from our WebSite, yo must extract the setup files from their compressed
file, the ZIP file requires a program like WinZip or PKzip or other such
unzipping program. The EXE file will self-inflate when you double
click on it in Windows Explorer, let it inflate to the default directory
and then go to that ditrectory and run the Setup program.
How do I get RamBooster to remember the Memory
control SlideBar ===[
]=== position
between reboots?
To save the SlideBar's position, you must
close RamBooster by hitting the [X] or you can also edit the RAMBOOSTER.INI
(stored in the program's directory) and set the BarPosition=
as desired(numeric value between 0 and 100)represents percentage, do NOT
put the % after the number.
In general, how does RAMBooster work?
RamBooster monitors the amount of available
physical RAM and when that amount gets down to the 'alarm level' RamBooster
frees-up physical RAM by inducing Windows to move part of it to virtual
memory in the hard drive cache.
